Fuzzy groundhog. She let me take quite a few pictures before ambling off to the backdoor of her home, underneath a tall spruce.

Wow, she looks big! I've never seen a groundhog before--this one looks beautiful!

I thought these animals were ubiquitous throughout the United States, but I guess not. They are certainly prevalent in the northeast, where they can devour entire gardens. Some people call them woodchucks, others call them whistlepigs, and their latin name is marmota monax. To hear a groundhog whistle, try Hoghaven and click on "Sounds."
