Snowfilled Woodpecker holes

Posted by Picasa
I think these were made by a pileated woodpecker, which is as large as a crow.

I have never seen so many wood pecker holes - I'm not even sure I've ever seen wood pecker holes. Very nice photos! Especially the macro hole.

Oh and TEST4

Do the woodpeckers hone their skills on the wood of houses too? Occasionally, cockatoos will attack houses here and the can make a terrible mess of them, just stripping all the wood off them and creating other damage too.

It looks like they were very busy woodpeckers! There must have been a lot of food available here.
