Marge at 2 weeks of age. My friend, chaplain for a hospice in northeast Ohio, recently became the loving owner of, Lady, a gentle, delightful mixed breed dog that had belonged to one of her patients. As it turned out, Lady was "expecting", and a couple weeks ago, she gave birth to TEN little Rottweiler mix puppies. For photos of Marge's nine brothers and sisters, and a video of the squealing and squirming pups, go to http://www.infowebster.com/danalskennels/. I've just had word that the puppies have opened their eyes, so I'll be taking some more photos soon. Anybody want a puppy??

The Buzzards of Hinckley. Every year in the spring, the swallows return to Capestrano, and the buzzards (turkey vultures) return to Hinckley, Ohio. Oddly enough, the buzzards seem to return on the same day each year -- March 15th. The town of Hinckley celebrates with a pancake breakfast, official buzzard sitings, and a lot of other festivities. The event draws about 2000 bird enthusiasts per year. We hiked in Hinckley Reservation on the 14th, a cold and misty day. Up in the treetops the buzzards sat, drying their wings and waiting for their next meal.

A short hike along the Cleveland Way near Scarborough, England.
The Cleveland Way goes through the North Yorkshire moors and then follows the coast down to Scarborough and Filey. We only spent about six hours on the coastal part, but it was breathtaking.

Not that this is a great shot, but I'm posting it just to show how treacherous this coastal path was. It kept getting narrower and narrower, and muddier and muddier, and there is a sharp drop off on the right -- several hundred feet straight down to the North Sea. On the left was an equal drop off down to a torrent coming down from the moors. While it looks sunny in this picture, a half hour later, the wind picked up and we had some rain, and the hiking became pretty difficult.

Scarborough, England. After climbing up to Scarborough Castle, we caught a glimpse of the North Bay framed by an arch in the castle wall. Well worth the climb!
