Fascinating, isn't it? It's all those strange vowels that make it such a difficult language to understand and pronounce! Do you have a Welsh background? My MIL's mother was Welsh.

I always wondered how Jones could be such a common name in Wales when J was not part of the Welsh alphabet! I found this classroom poster in the Welsh-American Heritage Museum in Oak Hill, Ohio, USA
